My Winter Skin Care Secrets (Affordable Products)

The winter climate really messes with my skin and I doubt I'm alone on that. However, I've found some great products that have worked wonders for me - it's surely taken a lot of trial and error though. I have combination skin so a mixture of oily and at times dry but I would recommend these products for all skin types: normal, oily, dry, combination or sensitive. These products alongside a healthy diet and plentiful water consumption have made my skin be in its best condition. Please keep in mind that healthy skin is a reflection of the body's health - there is no product that will transform it from unhealthy to healthy.

Let me start off by saying that the majority of these products aren't as expensive as the usual high end skin care so hurray for that! I'm anyway strongly of the opinion that if you're going to save on something don't let it be on your skin care. Girl! You only get one skin and it's your FACE we're talking about here. In my opinion, there is a big difference in drugstore skin care product quality versus high end ones. Ofcourse, a lot of the time with high end brands the fabulous product packaging plays a huge factor in pricing so let's not forget that.

Nuxe Rêve de Miel Nourishing Night Cream ~30€

A true GEM! I cannot praise this product enough. Thank me later. This night cream is my all time favorite and it's made of 91% natural ingredients containing a fair share of honey. Nourishing is indeed the key word here - it just feels like it's reviving, repairing and nourishing my skin. No skin care product makes my skin feel this good. My skin drinks it over night and I'm left with soft, radiant and healthy looking and feeling skin. The price is really great for such an amazing product. I've used products that are x4-5 the price and can't even compete with this. Also, a little tip for my finnish readers: this is usually sold at Hullut Päivät for a discounted price - that's where I usually purchase mine ;)

Bobbi Brown Extra Eye Repair Cream ~65€

So this product clearly doesn't belong in the category of affordable skin care but I had to mention it. I'd highly recommend it for people with dry skin around the eye area. It's an intensely hydrating eye cream which is of a very thick and hard consistency (to be used over night). It's important to only use a small amount because it can swell and puff up the eyes otherwise alongside clogging the skin resulting in impurities. I'm aware the price is quite salty for 15ml of product and therefore I'd recommend asking a high end department store for a sample (this applies for all expensive fluid products btw). I actually purchase mine from airports usually since we're looking at a -20% discount.

LUSH Ocean Salt Face and Body Scrub 17€

This facial scrub will leave your skin clean, even and silky soft. However though! Don't make the mistake of constantly scrubbing your skin because it's dry and peeling - this will just work against you and make the skin even more dry and irritated. Scrub it gently with minimal product max. once a week and moisturize well afterwards. This and the above mentioned products are truly the dream team.

Bepanthen Ointment 7€

Bepanthen is a classic! I'm sure most people have used this during their lifetime. But did you know it's great (in my opinion the best) for dry and chapped lips and also works wonders on dry patches/areas on the skin. I use it over night and my lips are soft and any dry patches be gone! An inexpensive pharmaceutical product containing good ingredients that're favored by dermatologists sounds like a good deal to me.

I hope these tips were of help! Let me know what are your favorite winter skin care products!
